New visual identity for the largest bookstore in the Nordic countries, and one of the oldest cultural destinations in Oslo, opening for the first time in 1891. Meet the Eldorado bookstore, located in the busy Torggata in downtown Oslo.
Eldorado bookstore is the largest bookstore in the Nordic countries, with over 3000m2 of space. This also includes a café and two halls / auditoriums that can be rented out to anyone. What’s unique about this bookstore is that most of the books are categorized by publishers, and many small publishers get their opportunity to showcase their issued books. Unlike other bookstores, most of the books are presented with the front cover out, instead of just the spine.
Old vs. new and updated logo
The logo symbol is inspired by the historical dome outside the entrance, combined with how an open book looks. The symbol opens up for dynamic and varied ways to showcase and use it across different applications and surfaces.
The purple color symbolizes ambition, luxury and mystery, which is exactly what books and literature mean for many people. Yellow can symbolize hope and happiness, and works as a great contrast to the purple.
