On 18 selected roads in Norway, the spectacular and epic Norwegian landscape is amplified by art, design and architecture – taking you closer to the nature in new and surprising ways.
Meet the award-winning National Tourist Routes.
My concept and strategy for this redesign of their current website, was to re-prioritize the information and give users the ability to make a travel plan including the routes, attractions and rest stops they wanted to visit, that that they could use while traveling.
Old front page.
Lacks key information about what National Tourist Routes is, and news section is not updated.
New front page.
Welcome image is now full screen, giving the user a unique experience from the start. The concept surrounding the travel plan is explained, and relevant tourist routes for the season is showed.
All the pages are designed within a strict but varied grid system. Since the pages can be divided into squares in many different sizes, the tourist routes can have different layouts and show varied information , in the same way the Norwegian nature is never the same. The architects have also received a lot more attention, and they are now clearly a part of the info pages.
